# Region Hooks - Admin Components

These hooks are available since Medusa [v2.21.0](https://github.com/medusajs/medusa/releases/tag/v2.21.0).

The region hooks fetch regions from the Medusa backend. Use them to show or select regions in your admin customizations.

```tsx
import {
  regionsQueryKeys,
  useRegion,
  useRegions,
} from "@medusajs/dashboard/hooks"
```

These hooks are built on [TanStack Query](https://tanstack.com/query/latest). Use them in your [widgets](https://docs.medusajs.com/learn/fundamentals/admin/widgets) and [UI routes](https://docs.medusajs.com/learn/fundamentals/admin/ui-routes).

***

## useRegion

Fetches a single region by ID.

```tsx
const { region, isPending } = useRegion(regionId, {
  fields: "+countries.*",
})
```

### Parameters

- id: (\`string\`) The region's ID.
- query: (\`Record\<string, any>\`) Optional query parameters, such as \`fields\`.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options, excluding \`queryKey\` and \`queryFn\`.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- region: (\`AdminRegion\`) The region's details. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.

***

## useRegions

Fetches a paginated list of regions.

```tsx
const { regions, count } = useRegions({ limit: 20 })
```

### Parameters

- query: (\`Record\<string, any>\`) Optional query parameters, such as \`limit\`, \`offset\`, or \`fields\`.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options, excluding \`queryKey\` and \`queryFn\`.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- regions: (\`AdminRegion\[]\`) The list of regions. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.
- count: (\`number\`) The total number of regions matching the query.
- limit: (\`number\`) The maximum number of regions returned in the request.
- offset: (\`number\`) The number of regions skipped before the returned ones.

***

## regionsQueryKeys

A TanStack Query key factory for region queries. Use it to invalidate cached region data after you change a region.

It provides `all`, `lists()`, `list(query)`, `details()`, and `detail(id, query)`.

```tsx
import { useQueryClient } from "@tanstack/react-query"
import { regionsQueryKeys } from "@medusajs/dashboard/hooks"
const Widget = () => {
  const queryClient = useQueryClient()
  const refreshRegions = () => {
    queryClient.invalidateQueries({
      queryKey: regionsQueryKeys.lists(),
    })
  }
  // ...
}
```
