# Customer Hooks - Admin Components

These hooks are available since Medusa [v2.21.0](https://github.com/medusajs/medusa/releases/tag/v2.21.0).

The customer hooks fetch customers and their addresses from the Medusa backend. Use them to show customer data in your admin customizations.

```tsx
import {
  customersQueryKeys,
  useCustomer,
  useCustomerAddress,
  useCustomers,
  useListCustomerAddresses,
} from "@medusajs/dashboard/hooks"
```

These hooks are built on [TanStack Query](https://tanstack.com/query/latest). Use them in your [widgets](https://docs.medusajs.com/learn/fundamentals/admin/widgets) and [UI routes](https://docs.medusajs.com/learn/fundamentals/admin/ui-routes).

## useCustomers

Fetches a paginated list of customers. Pass query parameters to filter, paginate, or select the fields of the returned customers.

```tsx
const { customers, count, isPending } = useCustomers({
  limit: 20,
})
```

### Parameters

- query: (\`Record\<string, any>\`) Optional query parameters to pass to the list customers API route, such as \`limit\`, \`offset\`, or \`fields\`.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options, excluding \`queryKey\` and \`queryFn\`.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- customers: (\`AdminCustomer\[]\`) The list of customers. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.
- count: (\`number\`) The total number of customers matching the query.
- limit: (\`number\`) The maximum number of customers returned in the request.
- offset: (\`number\`) The number of customers skipped before the returned ones.

***

## useCustomer

Fetches a single customer by ID.

```tsx
const { customer, isPending } = useCustomer(customerId, {
  fields: "+groups.id",
})
```

### Parameters

- id: (\`string\`) The customer's ID.
- query: (\`Record\<string, any>\`) Optional query parameters, such as \`fields\`.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options, excluding \`queryKey\` and \`queryFn\`.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- customer: (\`AdminCustomer\`) The customer's details. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.

***

## useListCustomerAddresses

Fetches the list of addresses of a customer.

```tsx
const { addresses, count } =
  useListCustomerAddresses(customerId)
```

### Parameters

- id: (\`string\`) The customer's ID.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options. This hook accepts the options as its second parameter, not a query object.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- addresses: (\`AdminCustomerAddress\[]\`) The customer's addresses. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.
- count: (\`number\`) The total number of the customer's addresses.
- limit: (\`number\`) The maximum number of addresses returned in the request.
- offset: (\`number\`) The number of addresses skipped before the returned ones.

***

## useCustomerAddress

Fetches a single address of a customer.

```tsx
const { address } = useCustomerAddress(
  customerId,
  addressId
)
```

### Parameters

- id: (\`string\`) The customer's ID.
- addressId: (\`string\`) The address's ID.
- options: (\`UseQueryOptions\`) Optional TanStack Query options.

### Returns

Along with the following, the hook returns the rest of TanStack Query's [`useQuery`](https://tanstack.com/query/latest/docs/framework/react/reference/useQuery) result.

- address: (\`AdminCustomerAddress\`) The address's details. It's \`undefined\` while the request is loading.

## customersQueryKeys

A TanStack Query key factory for customer queries. Use it to invalidate cached customer data after you change a customer.

It provides `all`, `lists()`, `list(query)`, `details()`, and `detail(id, query)`.

```tsx
import { useQueryClient } from "@tanstack/react-query"
import {
  customersQueryKeys,
} from "@medusajs/dashboard/hooks"
const Widget = () => {
  const queryClient = useQueryClient()
  const refreshCustomer = (id: string) => {
    queryClient.invalidateQueries({
      queryKey: customersQueryKeys.detail(id),
    })
  }
  // ...
}
```
