# Security Analytics

In this guide, you'll learn how to view the requests that [Medusa Security](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security) features allow or block for your project, and how to look up a blocked request by its Ray ID.

## What are Security Analytics?

[Medusa Security](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security) protects your project with the following security features:

- [Medusa Instant Protection](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security#medusa-instant-protection): Blocks requests that try to exploit vulnerabilities specific to Medusa applications.
- [Basic Protection Ruleset](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security#basic-protection-ruleset): Blocks requests that try to exploit common web attacks.
- [DDoS Protection](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security#ddos-protection): Detects and mitigates distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
- [Bot Detection](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security#bot-detection): Blocks requests coming from malicious bots.

These features inspect incoming requests and can block or challenge the ones that match a rule before they reach your application.

The Security Analytics page shows how much of your project's traffic these features allow or block, lists recent security events, and lets you find the details of a specific blocked request.

## Open Security Analytics

To open a project's Security Analytics page:

1. [Open the project's dashboard](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/projects#open-project-dashboard).
2. Click **Security** in the sidebar, then click **Analytics**.

The page has two sections: [Requests](#view-requests) and [Ray ID Lookup](#look-up-a-request-by-ray-id).

## View Requests

The **Requests** section shows your project's HTTP requests over time, broken down into allowed traffic and traffic blocked by each security feature [enabled for the environment](https://docs.medusajs.com/cloud/security#configurable-security-features-per-environment).

### Filter Requests

At the top of the section, you can filter the data shown in the chart and the events list:

- **Environment**: Select a specific environment of the project, or view all environments.
- **Target**: Select **Backend and Storefront**, **Backend**, or **Storefront** to view requests sent to your Medusa backend, your storefront, or both.
- **Time range**: Select the last 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 7 days.

To fetch the latest data, click the refresh button next to the filters.

### Requests Summary and Chart

Above the chart, three summary cards show the totals for the selected filters:

- **Allowed**: The total number of allowed requests.
- **Blocked**: The total number of blocked requests.
- **Breakdown**: The number of blocked requests per security feature. Each feature has a colored dot that matches its color in the chart.

The area chart below the cards shows allowed requests and the requests blocked by each security feature over the selected time range.

### Security Events

Below the chart, a paginated list shows recent security events. Each row shows:

- The time the event occurred.
- The action taken on the request, such as `block` or `challenge`, shown as a colored badge.
- The security feature that acted on the request.
- The request's path.

Click a row to expand it and view the event's full details, including:

- The security feature that acted on the request.
- The matched rule's description and ID.
- The action taken, shown as a colored badge.
- The time of the request.
- The target, which is your Medusa backend or storefront.
- The domain, HTTP method, and path of the request.
- The client's IP address, country, and user agent.
- The Ray ID.

To copy a field's value, hover over it and click its copy button.

## Look Up a Request by Ray ID

When Cloud blocks or challenges a request, the response includes a Ray ID that identifies the request. You can use the **Ray ID Lookup** section to find out why a specific request was blocked, for example, when a customer reports that they can't access your store.

To look up a request:

1. In the **Ray ID Lookup** section, enter the Ray ID. A Ray ID is a 16-character hexadecimal string, optionally followed by a data center code, such as `8f2a1b3c4d5e6f70-AMS`.
2. Submit the form.

If the Ray ID is malformed, an error appears below the field. Otherwise, the section shows the matching [security event's details](#security-events).
